Obituary for Mary Kinsley

Mary McCullough Kinsley died on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the age of 96. She had been residing for the past four years at Bremerton Monor, 3028 Anchor Road, Washington Boro, PA.
Born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland, she was the older daughter of the late Andrew Young and Elizabeth Wagstaff Young. Her family, including a younger sister, Elizabeth, immigrated to the Philadelphia i 1929, later settling in Scranton, PA, where Mary met and married the artist and art teacher Robert Elliott Kinsley, Jr. They settled in Hagerstown, MD and enjoyed vacation at their summer home in Oak Bluffs, Martha"s Vineyard.
Mary was highly intelligent and energetic individual who had a tremendous love for theater. This was expressed through many decades of participation in the Potomac Playmakers as an actor, director, and board member. Her love of the theater included work as a puppeteer with the late Mary Ella Crossly and several years of teaching as a "talented adjunct faculty member"(Arts Brochure, HCC) at Hagerstown Community after she received her Associates Degree from the same institution.
She was devoted member of the Fountainhead Country Club for many decades, enjoying the camaraderie and good times when ever she could. One of her greatest delights was taking the family to "the Club" for drinks and dinner when ever they are in town. For many years she was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary, theWashington County Museum of Fine Arts, the treble Clef Club, the Hagerstown Garden Club and played numerous rounds of bridge with friends in various Bridge Clubs.
She was predeceased in death by her husband Robert Elliott Kinsley, Sr. , and by her youngest son David Ross Kinsley.
She is survived by her beloved youngest sister Elizabeth Young Poole, of Port Washington, NY,and sons and daughter -in-laws Robert Elliott Kinsley, Jr. ,and his wife Marylyn of Stephens City, VA; Peter Andrew Kinsley and his wife Mary Leer, of Lancaster, PA; and Connie Kinsley ( David ) of Elliott City, MD. She is also survived by two nieces, Nancy Hellenschmidt of Port Washington, NY. and Jo Anne Barlett of minneapolis, Minnesota; three grand children, Michelle Kinsley, James Kinsley, and Jenny Gulino; and several great nieces and nephews, and great - grandchildren.
ON Wednesday, June 28, 2017 friends will be received from 1:00 pm. with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Firest Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, 20 S. Prospect Street, Hagerstown, MD, following interment at the Rest Haven Cemetery at 3:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers , contributions may be made in Marys memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown or the Potomac Playmakers, P. O. Box3659, Hagerstown, MD 21742-3659.
