The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Welton Baker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Baker. I was in his class at ERH 1969-70 and can say that he was, by far, my best teacher in middle school. His soft-spoken, kind style always commanded respect from his students. He will be missed.

Condolence: I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Baker family. I want you to know that the accomplishments of my life were built on the shoulders of Mr. Baker. He was my 8th-grade science & physics teacher at South Potomac Junior High School. He opened my mind to science like no one had ever done before. He was brilliant, humble, generous, and kind. The world lost an amazing man and I want the Universe to know that he was loved and deeply appreciated by all of his students. I am so grateful for him and the time he spent seeing value in me! Without reservation, I can honestly admit that this amazing life I have had was a direct and sacred gift from Mr. Baker's belief in me and his unselfish commitment to his students. Farewell Mr. Baker, and thank you!

Condolence: My deepest sympathies for the Baker family. Mr. Baker was my science teacher at Hicks, and I believe that he helped turn my life around. He believed in me, and that made all the difference. I often tell people how he changed my life. Fortunately, I was able to work with him when I became an adult, so I shared with him how important he is in my life. He was a kind gentle man and I will always love him.
