Obituary for Ronald Lee Royce

Ronald Lee Royce, 69, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Doey’s House. He was born on September 29, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Lee Hammill Royce Jr. and Gloria Mae Curry Burkett. Ron worked from the age of 17 in the optical business, starting out working in the shop making eyeglasses and then becoming an optician, retiring in 2006. He had a love for restoring Camaros, Nascar fan of Jeff Gordon, the Dallas Cowboys, fishing and deer hunting. Ron was a past member for 25 years of the Potomac Fish and Game Club.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances V. Royce (Wollard); his children Sandra L. Dudley (Robert) of Hagerstown, MD and Brian L. Royce (Janine) of Palm Coast, FL; his grandchildren Billy, Alex and Sydney Jarvis, Anthony Royce, Jared, Meghan and Christian Dudley; his brothers John Burkett and Joe McCarney; and his sisters Susie Bonebrake, Barb Robinson and Mary Bumbaugh.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Harman Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Chaplain John Sumpter will officiate. Interment to immediately follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Doey’s House are encouraged by the family and may be sent to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742
