Reverend Robert Lee Petties, 68, of Hagerstown, MD, departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Baltimore, MD. He was born on June 4, 1951 in Beckley, WV to Pauline (Rogers) Petties and Isiah Petties. He was educated in Mullens, WV and Bluefield State College, where he met and married Torrance L. Campbell on April 6, 1972.

He was employed by the Town of Bluefield as a Police Officer prior to joining Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he worked in the Police Division for 30 years. The family moved from Bluefield, WV to Hagerstown, MD and he joined Ebenezer AME Church and was ordained a Local Deacon.
Rev. Petties was a loving, generous person who served the Lord and his community. He was on many committees in the City of Hagerstown; President of Head Start of Washington County, Board of Directors of Washington County Department of Social Services, Memorial Recreation and many others within the City of Hagerstown.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Isiah Petties, his brother James Edward and his sister, Patricia Ann.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 47 years, Torrance Petties, four daughters, Anita Brown of Beckley, WV, Tanessia Petties of Hagerstown, MD, Tai Mwai (James), U.S.Navy, and Julia Ings (Chantez) of Hagerstown, MD, three grandchildren, DeVante Hill, Taylor Burch, and London Ings, two great grandchildren, Harmoni and Honesti Hill, three brothers, Kenneth Petties of Charleston, WV, John Petties (Anita) of Beckley, WV Jan Petties of Huntington, WV and sister Betty Robinson (Hugh) of Dayton, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin Street, Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
Rev. Donald L. Marbury, Pastor of Ebenezer AME Church will preside. Viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior to funeral service. Interment Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
